The world has had a love affair with the west and
cowboys since the great expansion of our country from the east. Riding
the plains, roping wild cows and shaping the land was what the first
cowboys did and ranchlife hasn’t changed much since then. They came when
the country was wild and young and it took men to curry the roughness
out of it. Cowboys of today still shape the land, care for it, love it
and cherish it. They are true stewards of the land. The people who work
the ranches do not see ranchlife as a job. It is a way of life - full of
love of the land, the animals, and family.
Ranchers have had to become computer savy marketing
their products internationally as well as locally. Herd databases,
conservation and environmental concerns, animal husbandry and forage
value indexes are part of the modern day ranchers life. Every rancher is
still the cowboy that rides the plains, ropes the cows and shapes the
land for the next generation.
